The facelifted Dacia/Renault Duster compact SUV is likely to debut at 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show scheduled to begin on September 10. It was launched globally in 2010, made its India debut on July 4 2012 and has been a major seller for the Indian arm of the French automaker. The facelifted model has already been spotted testing on two separate occasions and is expected to get cosmetic as well few minor mechanical chances.
The exterior changes to the Duster include revised headlights and tail lights, grille, bumpers. It is believed that inside, the facelifted Duster will get most of the upgrades that were shown on the 2013 Dacia Logan sedan. A slightly revised version was spotted testing in Romania five months ago and featured a revised instrument cluster and cruise control.
The engine line up and underpinnings are expected to remain the same as the current model – 1.6-litre petrol and the 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine. While the former produces 102PS and 145Nm of torque, the diesel is available in two power outputs 85PS and 110PS. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox or a four-speed automatic of which the latter is expected to be replaced by a better unit. Renault is also expected to improve the emission levels for the vehicle. The India spec Duster is also expected to get better quality plastics now that the EcoSport has been launched.
In India, we will get the facelifted Duster next year with all the above mentioned changes; however, its production will start by the end of the year due to the fact that Renault exports the Duster from Chennai to various RHD markets. The upcoming Nissan Terrano that is scheduled to be launched in October is likely to get a revision in 2015 to make it more similar to the facelift.
