Reports claim that BMW is expected to introduce the facelifted i3 next year, in line with its new found vision to target between 15 and 25 per cent of the electric car space in the future.
Ever since the BMW i3 hit the global market, 60,000 units have rolled out of showrooms. In a bid to keep up with the changing EV trends, BMW’s facelifted i3 is anticipated to offer an increased electric range along with multiple advances in technology. Thanks to the new battery pack, the next i3 is expected to incorporate a 50 per cent increase in range. These updates will keep transforming the current generation of the i3 to keep it competitive until the all-new i3 is ready in the years to come.
Though BMW hasn’t released the details, the i3 project manager Heinrich Schwackhoefer has affirmed his confidence in the upcoming i3 facelift. In May 2016, the current i3 went through an upgrade which saw the inclusion of a new battery pack that helped the range increase to 183km, however, the upcoming i3 is rumoured to effortlessly cover up to 273km.
BMW has lot of electrification lined up for their fleet which includes the 530e, i8 Spyder, Mini Countryman PHEV, and the all-electric Mini.
