Facelifted BMW 7 Series launched in India; Prices start at Rs 1.22 crores

BMW has launched the facelifted 7 Series in India with prices starting at Rs 1.22 crores (All-India ex-showroom). There are three diesel powered versions and three petrol powered versions with the latter getting in a plugin hybrid model. There are multiple colour options and three trim packages DPE, DPE signature and M Sport.

This facelifted BMW 7 Series was unveiled late last year and is a mid-life update for the German automaker’s flagship sedan. Highlights of this mid-life update comprise new bumpers, laser headlamps and a massive kidney grille. Inside, there’s a host of new trim options along with BMW’s latest iDrive system. As standard, every version gets multi-zone climate control, leather upholstery, electric seats with cold and hot massage function and a digital instrument cluster.

The petrol engine on offer is the 3.0-litre inline-6 producing 322bhp/450Nm with an eight-speed automatic sending powering to the rear wheels. The diesel engine on offer is also a 3.0-litre inline-6 producing 262bhp and a monstrous 620Nm of torque. This engine too gets an eight-speed automatic sending power to the rear wheels.

This update of the 7 Series sees the introduction of the 745Le xDrive for the Indian market. It is powered by an inline-6 petrol motor producing 286bhp/450Nm. In addition, it gets an electric motor producing 113bhp/265Nm. It’s got an electric only mode range of 55km and a top-speed of 110kmph. As a part of the package it gets xDrive and optional four seat layout. The diesel powered versions can be had in the DPE, DPE signature or M Sport trim while the 740Li is available only in the DPE Signature trim. The top-of-the-line M760Li gets a 600bhp 6.6-litre V12 with all-wheel drive as standard.

The BMW 7 Series is a direct rival for the likes of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (do read our spec comparison) Jaguar XJL, upcoming new generation Audi A8Las well as the Maserati Quattroporte.
