Reports of spotting the Audi A8 facelift camouflaged on the streets of Mumbai have been doing the rounds of the Internet for some time now. Now, pictures from a fresh sighting of the updated Audi A8 have surfaced on a website, leading us to believe that come the Indian Auto Expo 2014 in February we will be seeing it there.
The 2014 Audi A8 facelift made its public debut nearly two months ago and there were reports of its testing in India even before its world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show. At its debut Audi said that the facelift brings with it ‘wide-sweeping’ updates to styling, technologies and powertrains.
The Matrix LED headlights have been the new Audi A8’s most distinguishing feature and this is something that Audi might continue to use in the future. The bit about these headlights is that the high beam can be used continuously without blinding the drivers of oncoming vehicles. This is a technology which could make driving on Indian roads a much better experience. Further changes can be seen with the revised bumpers and grille, reprofiled tail lights and the addition of chrome strips on the bootlid and the rear bumper.
The length of the car remains the same as the outgoing vehicle but the addition is more space in the boot. In updating the A8, Audi has also paid great attention to the acoustics. The quality, ergonomics and functionality, the characteristic features of the roomy interiors of the Audi A8 remain the same apart from new three-spoke steering wheel and a smarter night vision camera.
The car retains all its engine options - 3.0L TDI, 4.2L TDI, 4.2L FSI and a 6.3L W12, However, the motors have been tweaked for lower emissions and higher fuel efficiency. The Audi A8 will have to work twice as hard to keep the BMW 7 Series and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class at bay and with these new features and design elements may do just that.
