Carwale has spotted the 2018 Ford EcoSport which was on its way to Mexico. The spotted car appears to be production ready and houses cosmetic updates all around.
The exterior is treated with the styling bits from the American manufacturer’s elder SUVs and the new car boasts of Ford’s family design. Upfront the grille is aggressively styled with an addition of chrome, the headlamps and the fog lamps are designed sharper than before. The silhouette is identical to the current car however the side profile exhibits the newly designed 17inch alloy wheel which is an optional feature on the current EcoSport – is expected to be a standard feature on the facelift model.
The rear end of the new compact SUV has been completely revamped and the door mounted spare wheel gives way to the licence plate. However the boot release is still integrated in the tail lamp cluster. The rear bumper is reworked which sports a restyled diffuser and continues to carry the bumper integrated reverse tail lamps.
We do not have the photographs of the interiors however, with the cosmetic updates on the outside, the cabin is expected to receive a fresh breath of air. The new car is expected to host a long feature list than the current car on sale and the infotainment is likely to get an update as well.
The face lifted EcoSport was spotted with an ‘Ecoboost’ badge which indicates that the new car will be powered by the same set of engines – 1.5-litre diesel, 1.5-litre petrol and 1.0-litre Ecoboost.
The face lifted Ford EcoSport has been spotted on the way to the international markets hence leading into speculations that the compact SUV will essentially spawn abroad and eventually arrive to the Indian markets. The international market could expect to see the new Ford EcoSport at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. It is likely that the American manufacturer could christen the new compact SUV as the 2018 model.
The new Ford EcoSport is speculated to make an appearance in the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo and could go on sale in the second quarter of 2018. Post its launch the new Ford EcoSport will continue to rival against the Mahindra TUV300 and the Maruti Suzuki Brezza.
