Since, Jaguar Land Rover's SVO (Special Vehicle Operations) launched their Range Rover Sport SVR, people have only been waiting and wanting them to work their magic on the F-Type. Well, it’s on its way, at least if we were to go by the leaked brochure, pictures and details online.
The brochure pictures of the bright orange car displays how SVO has made an already aggressive car, even more aggressive. The overall bumper redesign has been made sharper and the front bumper also gets larger air ducts to provide more air to the beastly engine. The larger black accented hood vents also add to its sportier feel. The rear also gets a bigger rear diffuser along with a redesigned rear wing which is said to reduce the lift by 80 per cent.
The SVR will be powered by the same 5.0-litre V8 engine that is present in the F-Type R coupe. However, it makes 567bhp in the SVR as compared to 542bhp in the R coupe. The torque has also gone up by 20Nm to 700Nm. The SVR will only come as an all-wheel-drive and will come mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The 0-100kmph time has gone down by 0.4 seconds making it 3.7 seconds. The top speed has gone upto 322kmph up by 22kmph.
While there isn’t a huge bump in power, we can be sure SVO has made weight savings and reduced the overall weight. The car will get carbon ceramic brakes which are 21kgs lighter, a titanium exhaust system that is 12kgs lighter and lighter aluminum wheels which save 10kgs.
Jaguar Land Rover's SVO brand has big ambition. If it is to be as successful as Mercedes' AMG then it has a long road ahead of it. But, the F-Type SVR shows they are heading down the correct path.
The F-Type SVR will be on display at the Geneva Auto Show in March. The Tata group owned company will price it slightly higher than the current F-Type R coupe.
