If you follow our news section regularly, you'll notice we let you know if any car that is newly launched gets a surprising number of bookings. In the case of a mass-market hatchback, that sort of news piece will generate a lot of interest. This one probably won't, but it won't stop us from saying that the Jaguar F-Type has got 2000 bookings.
That is a miniscule number compared to, say, the Alto 800, but to put it in perspective, that is a third of the number of units Jaguar hopes to sell in 2013. Expectedly, most of the orders are presently from Europe - but Jaguar hopes that the US market will contribute ever-growing numbers as the years go by.
The F-type is the first of Jaguar's new generation of sports cars; it promises to be the base for a sportier Jaguar, with the company reminding the world of the XK120 and E-Type at its launch at the Paris Motor Show this year.
