Yes, what you see in the picture does look like an extended wheelbase Jeep Cherokee and this car has been spotted in the United States.
The idea behind this model definitely has to be strong, as the compact platform that it runs on will now need extensive re-engineering. It is also likely that a more crossover approach can be used in the Cherokee's Compact US Wide (CUSW) platform in the beginning, and can be stretched like in this car to give more interior space.
What seems logical of course is to assume that Jeep plans to extend the existing Cherokee and Grand Cherokee range and introduce this new extended wheelbase model somewhere in between. We can safely speculate that this model could serve potential buyers with a probably enticing option of a third row of seats.
An interesting point is the same brands Dodge Durango presently sells with the third-row and this car is constructed on the Grand Cherokee platform. Could it be that the car in the picture is perhaps a Dodge?, as the brand is presently looking to replace the current ‘Journey’.
We will give you more information on this as and when it happens, so stay tuned to Carwale.
