This is the Jet 2+2, handmade by the Italian design and coachbuilder, Bertone, on order for a British car collector. It is basically a stretched version of the Aston Martin Rapide for bigger cabin and additional cargo space. Unfortunately it is a one-off creation; fortunately it will be displayed to general public at Geneva before begin handed over to the undisclosed owner.
Aston Martin and Bertone have a history of working together; in 2004 the Italian design house created a Shooting Brake version of the Vanquish. The Rapide wagon looks like a natural progression of the four-door sedan and has a tastefully designed rear-end. The interiors get few additional features including fold-flat rear seats with sliding electric cover, in case it does get used for its true purpose.
The Jet 2+2 is powered by 470bhp V12 engine and not the upgraded 550bhp unit used in the Rapide S. The price of this car does not interest us – made-to-order exclusive one-off car, from an Italian design house – you see! However, we hope that Aston puts something similar to production in future.
