Honda has fully revealed the Euro-spec Civic, ahead of the car’s public debut at the Paris Motor Show on October 2, 2014. The new Civic range benefits from improved design, new technology and a new Sport variant with visual links to Honda’s forthcoming Type R version.
The Civic range in Europe includes the hatchback and the estate model called the Civic Tourer. Both come with refreshed exterior styling for the headlights with integrated daytime running lights, sleeker front bumper, side skirts and rear bumper. The Civic now also gets a rear spoiler finished in black and LED rear combination lights. In keeping with the upgrades on the outside, the vehicle also receives upgrades on the inside with new seat fabrics and stitching on the headrests, new door trims with chrome door handles and a control panel finished in metallic black.
The highlighted bit of the facelifted Civic range is the introduction of the new Civic Sport variant. Based on the standard model, the Sport is powered by the 120bhp, 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine or the 142bhp, 1.8-litre i-VTEC petrol engine. Design wise, the Sport variants feature a colour-coded rear spoiler and unique 17-inch alloy wheels. Additionally, the Civic Sport echoes the design of the forthcoming Type R with a new front bumper featuring a lower grille mesh and a black roof lining for the cabin.
Honda has revealed that the full details on the new Civic range will be out on October 2, at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. Stay tuned, then, for more on the new Civic and all the other Paris-bound important models which could grace the Indian market in the coming years.
