Suzuki has revealed the engine line up for its S-Cross SX4 crossover. The car was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March. As per the Japanese automakers recently revealed future plans will spawn a smaller vehicle that will use the same underpinnings.
The S-Cross SX4 is being offered with one diesel mill and one petrol engine. The oil burner is a turbocharged 1.6-litre unit that produces 119PS and 320Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels or all four wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. The petrol is also 1.6-litre mill but is naturally aspirated. It produces 119PS and 156Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to all four wheels or the front wheels via a five-speed manual or a CVT gearbox.
It is expected that S-Cross SX4 will spawn a sedan that will eventually come to the Indian market sometime next year. Given the sudden demand for crossovers, we can also expect the S-Cross SX4 to make its way here around the same time.
As for the engines, the petrol is sure to be offered when the new car is launched, however the diesel mill will continue to be the 1.3-litre Multijet mill until Maruti Suzuki’s diesel engine plant in Gujarat goes online.
