The Model 3 will be Tesla's most affordable car to go on sale. The company has already showcased the Model 3 and Tesla´s CEO, Elon Musk, has now announced that the deliveries of production models will commence later this month.
Musk confirmed on a social media website that the first batch of thirty Model 3 will be handed over to the customers on 28 July 2017 – weeks ahead of the expected time of delivery.
The Model 3 is far cheaper than Tesla's other cars – Model S and Model X – and the company claims that this car is for the masses. Tesla has received 4,00,000 orders for the Model 3 and the company plans to shift production into overdrive to fulfil those orders.
Elon Musk’s tweets on the social media platform also added that after the first dispatch of thirty cars, the month of August will see a dispatch of hundred cars. The month of September will see over 1500 cars being delivered. The company CEO is confident of delivering 20,000 units by year end.
Tesla has been praised for their products on offer. However, the company does need a high volume car to play the cash cow. Hence the Model 3 has been priced at Rs. 23,00,000 while Model S and Model X are priced above Rs. 65,00,000.
Tesla is also expected to land on Indian soil in the coming years. Much has been said about Tesla setting up its operations here, but the company themselves have not confirmed anything yet.
