The first vehicle from the famous Eicher-Polaris alliance is finally here. Called the Multix, this vehicle is being targeted at small business men, traders and farmers.
With a price tag of Rs 2.32 lakh (ex-showroom Jaipur), the Multix is powered by a 511cc diesel motor that produces 9.78bhp at 3,000rpm and maximum torque of 27.1Nm between 1400rpm and 2200rpm. This engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox that helps the vehicle churn out a claimed fuel efficiency of 28.45kmpl. This five-seater multi-utility vehicle can be registered as a personal car and not necessarily limited to commercial license.
The overall design of the Multix looks more of a grown-up golf cart but the front fascia looks quite nice. The Multix multi-utility vehicle has a boot space of 418litres without rear cover and 840 with rear cover. Interestingly, the vehicle has a power generator at the back that delivers close to 4bhp. This is a very good feature for rural markets where there is high load shedding. The company says that this tiny generator is enough to power electricity at homes and also farm equipment.
Eicher Polaris is offering the Multix in two variants – MX and AX+. The AX+ will be sold at Rs 2.72 lakh (ex-showroom Jaipur). The test drives of the Multix will begin from next month, whereas the deliveries will begin only in August.
