Dual front airbags is now standard on Ford EcoSport

Ford EcoSport has been a popular model in its segment. To stay ahead of the competition, the company is offering driver and passenger airbag as standard across the EcoSport model in the country. To promote the safety aspect, the company has come up with a new commercial showcasing the safety element in the compact SUV.    

Ford offers the top-end spec EcoSport with six airbags and ABS with EBD. Under the hood, the car continues to be powered by 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options which put out 108bhp and 97bhp of power respectively. The EcoSport is also available with a 1.0-litre Ecoboost petrol engine which generates 121bhp of power. The compact SUV is available in manual and automatic gearbox options in India.

Across its model range in India, Ford has hiked the prices by about Rs 7,000, while the EcoSport gets the biggest difference of about Rs 24,000. Moving forward, it is to be seen whether Ford will offer the ABS as standard in the EcoSport model in future. Apart from this, the company has not revealed any immediate plans to make dual front airbags as standard on its other models which are sold in India. However, we believe that with the 2017 safety norms coming soon, most automakers will have to focus on offering safety equipment as standard across their line up in the country.
