The X7 is BMW’s new full-size premium SUV with three rows of seating. The announcement for the vehicle was made early last year and since then we have seen prototypes running around in heavy camouflage.
Now we have this fairly detailed digital rendering of the X7, showing us all how the upcoming SUV would look like. The X7 is expected to share a significant chunk of its internals with Rolls Royce’s first ever SUV which is also under development. The former will ride on the CLAR architecture which made its debut in the latest-gen 7 Series. For the X7 the platform will be heavily strengthened to handle the added bulk.
Some of the suspension bits will be sourced from the X5 while both rear-wheel drive and xDrive AWD systems are going to be offered. In terms of engines, the X7 will get six - and eight-cylinder units as well as a plug-in hybrid derivative. The most expensive version, meanwhile, will be powered by an upgraded version of the 6-litre V12 which currently makes 544bhp and 750Nm of torque.
BMW is looking to take things to next level with this new model which will be significantly more luxurious and competent than the X5. The latter currently competes with the likes of Audi Q7 and Mercedes GLS.
