The see-sawing of fuel prices continues this week as well, with the diesel price being hiked 95 paise per litre - the second increase this month. And, if you were to look for a silver lining, the prices of petrol remain unchanged.
At the beginning of the month Indian Oil Corporation, the nation’s largest fuel retailer made it known that diesel prices were being hiked by 50 paise. Two days ago diesel cost you Rs 44.95 per litre in Delhi. As of today, diesel will retail for Rs 45.90 per litre.
"The current level of international prices and rupee-US dollar exchange rate warrant a price increase, which is being passed on to consumers with this price revision," IOC said in a statement.
Petrol price was last revised on September 1 when it was cut by Rs 2 per litre to Rs 61.20 in Delhi. Diesel on that day was reduced by 50 paise.
For the people in Maharashtra, the state government has imposed a surcharge of Rs 2 on both petrol and diesel, making residents here shell out more money for both anyway.
