Hyundai has confirmed that the new Grand i10 will make its debut on September 3. The news follows the unveiling of official images of the car yesterday. The car will be positioned between the i10 and the i20 and will be equipped with a new 1.1-litre diesel engine, making it the entry level diesel model in the Hyundai line up.
The official images reveal the design philosophy incorporated on the Grand i10, which shares close resemblance with the new i10 that is set for its global unveiling during the Frankfurt Motor Show. The fluidic design clubbed to the now customary hexagonal grille gives the car a more modern appeal; a definite step up from the current i10.
It’s the underpinnings and not the styling that is highlight of the new Grand i10. The cost effective, 1.1-litre diesel engine is speculated to produce power in the range of 75PS and will fight for its share with the Maruti Suzuki Swift and Ritz models. The petrol version on the other hand will get the same 1.2-litre Kappa engine that develops 79bhp and 112Nm. We expect the car will be priced around the Rs 4.6 lakh mark which will mean that there will be more a considerable amount overlapping within the Hyundai hatchback line up.
