Infiniti took the stage at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show with a new concept which will define all future cars from the Japanese carmaker’s stable. Christened the Q Inspiration Concept, the new design study also celebrates the brand’s 28th anniversary.
The Q Inspiration is truly futuristic with an unconventional grille, sleek wedges for headlights, massive bumper vents and bonnet creases that beautifully extend all the way to the shoulder crease. There is no roof, as the windshield glass stretches all the way to the back morphing into a gorgeous silhouette. The single sleek tail lights and moulded bumpers complete the rear. The four-door Concept rides on stylish and futuristic alloys in a typical Concept fashion.
The Q Inspiration concept is powered by Infiniti’s newly developed VC-Turbo engine. The variable turbo engine is a breakthrough which debuted in the QX50. It is a powertrain combining turbocharged gasoline power with the torque and efficiency of a hybrid or diesel engine. The Concept is also autonomous employing Nissan’s tried and tested ProPilot system.
In a typical concept fashion, the interior is minimalistic. The four-seater cabin has floating panels mounted with digital screens. The dashboard is one giant screen displaying all the information one could ever need. The futuristic cabin might trickle down inspiration for the future Infiniti production models. The luxury division of Nissan is admittedly working on a new flagship sedan. The Q Inspiration could be the first glimpse of the Infinity’s S-Class rival when it arrives in a couple of years’ time.
