The Volkswagen Polo is 3.972 metres in length and they plan on adding a boot to it and keeping it below the 4-metre mark. Here are more images to explain how they will add a boot, to create their compact sedan in just 27 millimetres of additional space.
The Polo-based sedan or the ‘Ameo’ is Volkswagen's attempt at making a sub-four-metre sedan to avail the tax benefits the government provides on the same. The spy shots show that Volkswagen have made changes to the front and the rear of the car.
Starting from the rear, since this car is all about its boot. Volkswagen have made minor changes to the C-pillar to ensure that the added boot will render smooth flowing-lines. The boot itself will have a flat-end considering it needs to be more functional than being design oriented. The camouflaged front-end seems to have a flatter design change in order to reduce the overhang length. Moreover, the front bumper could be similar to the Vento since it’s lacking the sharper front-end design of the Polo.
The car will go up against the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and the Ford Figo Aspire. Volkswagen India will have to price the car competitively to enter the established market. It will be showcased at the Auto Expo in February 2016 and will go on sale a few months after.
