The DC Avanti will be the first made-in-India sportscar once introduced in the Indian market. The manufacturer will officially launch the much-awaited car in the coming month. However, the company will deliver the 25 cars in the initial lot of bookings by the 15th of this month, out of the 762 confirmed bookings received.
The most unique feature of this car is that DC gives a prospective buyer all the options of customization and personalisation. The manufacturer doesn't want two cars to look alike and so will provide a wide range of exterior colours and interior trim levels. The basic design incorporates the use of carbon fibre elements that have been developed by the company's engineers. The car features bi-xenon head lamps, LED tail lamps and sports 20-inch alloy wheels with 255/35 sized tyres at the front and 295/30 sized tyres at the back.
The cabin does not get much of the fancy equipment seen on the latest cars, but, a customer can customise their car according to their liking. The interior will be colour-coordinated with the exterior paint scheme if needed.
Coming to the mechanicals, the Avanti is a mid-engined vehicle that comes powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder unit that produces 250bhp of power and 360Nm of torque. This mill is paired to a six-speed manual transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. The company has equipped the car with a double wishbone setup both, at the front and at the rear as well.
The Avanti is a completely in-house developed product by an Indian manufacturer named DC Design house. The car made its debut back in 2012 at the Auto Expo and again last year at the same event. The car is now finally ready to be launched, and will be priced between Rs 25 lakh to Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom).
