Noted Indian design firm DC (Dilip Chhabria designs) is aiming for a greater hold in the luxury car market. The car customisation house will be bringing two of its designs to the Motor Show in Delhi.
One of them is a compact car touted to be even smaller than the Tata Nano. The brains behind the company’s wacky designs, Dilip Chhabria, says that the car would not cross seven feet and it will be a two-seater. The other car will be a four-seater convertible SUV, which Chhabria describes as ‘drop-dead gorgeous but with irrational dimensions’.
For those who are acquainted with the designer’s customised products, they will well be aware that his cars do not come cheap. Both cars are expected to be in the range of Rs 18-40 lakh, though it will take couple of years for them to get into production.
Alongside these new offerings, the car customisation house is also going to be giving away the first 25 units of the DC Avanti, priced at Rs 25 lakh in the first phase of sales. By June of this year, DC is going to up its capacity to be able to produce 100 units of the Avanti a month.
Founded in 1993, the Mumbai-based design house is famous for redesigning regular cars and buses to make them more luxurious and limo-like. DC has been planning to get into production of cars, rather than just sticking to customisation.
