The DC Avanti has been spotted testing in our country several times. This time around, the camouflaged supercar has been sighted with a different set of tail lamps.
Recently, seven cars were snapped in the factory before being sent for ARAI homologation. This test mule might be one of those cars from the lot. The company might be making some final changes before its official launch. DC, the famous automotive design house, has designed and developed the vehicle and unlike other modified cars that use a body kit with some car forming the base, the Avanti is an entirely new car.
The DC Avanti is powered by an EcoBoost four-cylinder 2.0-litre DOHC engine sourced from Ford. This mill churns out 245bhp of power and 366Nm of torque. It is mated to a six-speed manual transmission and the motor features direct injection. The current mill is Euro 5 compliant which can be upgraded to the upcoming Euro 6 norms enabling the company to sell the car overseas too.
DC unveiled the Avanti at the 2014 Auto Expo in February which had different tail lamps. The car has gone through a series of cosmetic changes based on public feedback ever since the 2012 Auto Expo when it was publicly showcased. With some more changes to the final production version, it will be the first made-in-India supercar to be manufactured at the company's Talegaon facility in our country. It will create a category in itself as it will be the first supercar produced in our country by an Indian manufacturer. Though the first 25 units will be sold for Rs 25 lakh, it will be priced at around Rs 30 lakh when it goes on sale.
