DC will finally start deliveries of their sportscar - the Avanti, on April 15. The initial lot that already has been booked, was priced at around Rs 25-30 lakh. We will get to know about the exact Delhi ex-showroom price at the time of the launch.
The test mules of the DC Avanti were seen on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway till quite recently. Now the manufacturer will finally introduce the car to the Indian market after a long wait. DC has retained most of the features that were seen in the concept displayed at the Auto Expo. It features bi-xenon head lamps and LED tail lamps and gets 20-inch alloy wheels with 255/35 sized tyres at the front and 295/30 sized tyres at the back.
The cabin does not get much of the fancy equipment seen on the latest cars, however, the interior is colour-coordinated with the exterior paint scheme. The AC vents are round while the engine start is with the normal key unlike the push-button-start button in most modern cars.
The Avanti is a mid-engined vehicle that comes powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder unit that churns out 250bhp of power and 360Nm of torque. This motor comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. DC Design house has equipped the car with a double wishbone setup both, at the front and at the rear as well.
The DC Avanti will be offered in 10 different colours and will be a made-to-order product for prospective buyers. We can expect the car to be priced at Rs 30 lakh to Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be the first made-in-India supercar when it is launched for the Indian market.
