Datsun has officially revealed a sketch of its all-new car for Russia. The brand has announced that it will pull the covers of this new model on April 4, in Moscow. Developed specifically for the Russian markets, the car in question has been styled and developed in Japan.
Datsun’s entry into the Russian market is particularly significant for the global expansion of the brand as it is a key market which houses great potential for growth. In addition to the announcement of this all new model, Datsun has also made it official that the brand’s dedicated webpage for Russia (www.datsun.ru) has gone live today, with a countdown to the official launch date.
Unlike its first model for the Indian market which is the GO hatchback, the brand has decided to go with a three-box sedan for the Russian market. Although not much can be weaned out from the sketch shown here; the sedan will be designed on the same lines as the GO hatchback. However, do note the sharply styled headlamp and the fog-lamp housing, hinting at a more aggressive appearance.
Rather interestingly, this is not our first glimpse at Datsun’s upcoming sedan for the Russian market. Spy images of a possible prototype of the vehicle cropped up earlier this year in January, showing the exterior design in all its glory. Said to be based on the Lada Granta – a subcompact sedan built by Russian brand AvtoVAZ in collaboration with Renault, the vehicle shown here could well be Datsun’s first car model for Russia.
According to Russian auto website Wroom.ru which had published the images, the sedan could be called either the Datsun Mi-Do or the Do-On. Furthermore, the launch of the sedan could be followed by the debut of a 5-door hatchback (possibly the GO) at the 2014 Moscow Motor Show in August.
