Datsun will launch the new Redigo tomorrow at an event in Mumbai. The entry-level hatchback is expected to be launched from Rs 2.39 lakh onwards.
The Datsun Redigo had made its debut at the 2014 Auto Expo as a concept car. The production version gets the same styling and features. It rides on the same CMF-A platform as the Renault Kwid and measures 3,430mm in length. This shows it’s a bit shorter than the Kwid’s 3,679mm length, but the Redigo still gets a wheelbase of 2,348mm. The modern looking vehicle can be customised by a buyer through the different body kits offered by the manufacturer.
The top-of-the-line S variant comes packed with all features including rear folding seats, power steering, air-conditioner, digital tachometer, infotainment system and a driver-side air-bag. The base D variant misses these features, which can be opted for in the remaining A, T and T(O) trims. The driver airbag is only offered in the top-end S variant though.
The Datsun Redigo is powered by a 799cc petrol mill that produces 54bhp of power at 5,678rpm and a torque of 72Nm at 4,386mm. This mill comes mated to a five-speed gearbox that sends power to the front wheels. Fuel economy is rated at 25.17kmpl.
We will be at the launch event tomorrow in Mumbai where the Redigo will be officially launched in India. Hopefully, it will bring in good competition to the Maruti Suzuki Alto and Renault Kwid with an affordable pricing.
