Celebrating its one year of success in India, Datsun is expected to launch two new Redigo variants - 1.0-litre and AMT in the country by mid-2017. The new engine and transmission options in the Redigo will be carried forth from the Kwid hatchback. No major design upgrades are expected except for some sticker job on the upcoming variants.
Under the hood, the Datsun Redigo will be powered by a 1.0-litre three cylinder SCe petrol engine that generates 67bhp of power and 91Nm of torque. The bigger engine variant comes mated to a five speed manual transmission and an optional five-speed AMT unit. However, Redigo being a budget offering from Datsun, it might get a conventional gearstick instead of a rotary dial pattern. It is believed that Datsun may offer the 1.0-litre variant only in top-spec S variant.
As for interior, no significant upgrades are expected for now and the new model may continue to be offered with existing features as seen in the current model. As for the pricing aspect, we expect Datsun to charge an additional Rs 30,000 – Rs 40,000 on the current price. Additional details about the new variants will be known in the coming months.
