The Datsun redi-GO crossover (codenamed I2) will be the third vehicle from the Japanese automaker budget brand for the Indian market. It was shown as a concept car at the 2014 Auto Expo and is slated to enter into production at the Chennai plant sometime in March or April of this year.
The company has said that an official announcement regarding the car will be made during the 2016 Auto Expo and the car will be showcased and launched at a later date. Possibly, it may be timed to coordinate with the third anniversary of the unveiling of the GO hatchback which happened in July 2013.
The concept car revealed a crossover design with the familiar Datsun face, flared wheel arches and high riding stance that is typical of such vehicles. It is expected to be around 3.5-metres in length which means there will be adequate space for four adults. There are no details of the interior but we know that the redi-GO will share many of its design elements and feature list with the other GO models.
