Nissan plans to launch the Datsun Redi-Go car by March next year. It will be the third car from the brand after the Datsun GO and Go Plus that are on sale in India.
The Redi-Go was first unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo as a concept car where it stole all the attention of onlookers and analysts at the event. The compact crossover will be based on the manufacturer's CMF-A (Common Modular Family) platform. The concept car's design looks fantastic and the production version is expected to carry the same styling elements changing the perception that entry-level cars need not look average or boring.
The Datsun Redi-Go is expected to be powered by a three-cylinder engine pumping out around 75bhp of power and 105Nm of torque. This mill will be powered by a five-speed manual, while the company might offer an AMT (automated-manual transmission) gearbox as well.
If the carmaker manages to price even the base variant of the car below Rs 3 lakh, it will change the way entry-level cars look in that segment in our country. Let us hope the product opens up new avenues in the Indian automobile market with futuristic design and latest technology.
