Datsun has been banking heavily on the upcoming Redi-Go hatchback to help it mark its presence in India. Based on updates, the Redi-Go is expected to debut in India sometime by mid of April this year. The new hatchback is expected to compete strongly against Maruti Alto, Hyundai Eon and the Renault Kwid in India.
The Datsun Redi-Go will be competitively priced and hence we can expect that the vehicle might be offered with an optional driver airbag. To make it stand out from the rest, Datsun has offered sporty headlamps that blends neatly with the traditional hexagonal mesh grille pattern. The rear section will also be adorned with sporty tail-lamps, while the sides are complemented by flared wheel arches.
Expected to be introduced at a base price tag of Rs 3 lakh, the hatchback might feature basic yet appealing interior pattern. Under the hood, it might be powered by the Kwid’s 800cc petrol engine that generates 53bhp of power. It will come mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Reports have also indicated on a possibility of a 1.2-litre petrol being offered in the Redi-Go.
The Go hatchback and the Go+ sub 4-metre MPV have not been impressive sellers in the country. Datsun expects that the more stylish Redi-Go will help the brand create a strong presence in the Indian market. More details on the features and the technicalities will be known in the coming days.
