Datsun India today has launched the AMT trim of the Redi-GO at an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs 3,80,600. Deliveries of the vehicle will begin for the customers who had booked their vehicles earlier.
Called the Datsun Redi-GO Smart Drive Auto, this new variant is based on the 1.0-litre Redi-GO versions already on sale. There are no cosmetic changes whatsoever on this version, not even an AMT badge to differentiate it from the other siblings. However, what's new is the AMT gearbox in place of the manual and a new 2-DIN audio player. This infotainment system gets Bluetooth, which was a much-needed feature. Datsun took this feedback from customers and have introduced it in this grade.
The Datsun Redi-GO AMT is powered by the same 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol mill that churns out 67bhp of power and 91Nm of torque. This mill now comes mated to an AMT gearbox with manual overdrive and creep mode. This means a driver can drive the car in an automatic mode or manually change gears too whenever needed.
The Datsun Redi-GO is known for its compact size, quirky design, 185mm ground clearance and spacious cabin. Now with the addition of the AMT gearbox, prospective buyers will also find it very convenient to drive the car effortlessly with clutch-less gearshifts. The price should also appeal to potential buyers as it has been priced competitively as against the Renault Kwid RXL AMT and the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 Vxi AMT.
