Datsun has launched the flagship version of their popular hatchback, the Redi-Go 1.0. Powered by a 1.0-litre engine, the Datsun Redi-Go will be offered in two trims – T(O) and S priced at Rs 3.57 lakhs and Rs 3.72 lakhs respectively, ex-showroom Delhi. There are absolutely no changes on the outside except for the 1.0 badge on the tailgate that differentiates it from the 800cc versions.
On the inside, the top-spec Redigo 1.0 S gets body coloured contrast inserts on the black interior giving it a nice pop. The seats are upholstered in faux leather while the Redi-Go 1.0 gets front power windows and power steering standard along with the 1-DIN music system. It gets a bunch of cubby holes for storage spaces for the front passengers and rope-sacs for the rear passengers.
The 1.0-litre petrol engine comes mated to a five-speed gearbox and produces 67bhp of power and 91Nm of torque. There will also be an AMT, just like the Renault Kwid, but that will come out in the future. As of now, the Redi-Go 1.0-litre competes with its sibling, the Renault Kwid 1.0-litre, the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 and the Eon 1.0-litre in the entry-level hatchback statement.
In this price range, the options are limited as well. You can get the Tata Tiago XE petrol or the Redi-Go’s elder brother, the Datsun Go. There is also the Maruti Suzuki Celerio or the Wagon R if you plan to spend a little more.
