Datsun took a step back in history to showcase its vibrant history over the 80 years it has been in the car making business.
The company took great pride in displaying its Bluebird 1600 SSS, a heritage car that won so many rallies along with the 1600 (510) that sold more than 1.5 million units in the 1970s. For most of the 20th century, Datsun cars have been regarded as durable, attractive and trustworthy. They sold in millions in 190 countries all over the globe, from Japan to the US, Europe to Australia, and from Africa to Asia.
Covering centre stage was the GO-cross Concept which is a cool crossover that brings a new sense of style, adventure and fun to the Datsun line-up. This concept vehicle showcases Datsun’s vision for a potential Datsun GO/GO+ family expansion in high growth markets. It is a pure concept at this moment and no production commitments have been announced. However, if it were to go into production, it would meet the needs and preferences of the new generation of young drivers.
The car maker also showcased the Datsun GO+ Smart, which is a family car conceived to draw attention to the GO+ and its smart packaging. In the GO+ Smart, the second and third rows have been customised to give kids their own space; an area providing a lounge-style travel experience. Kids can enjoy playing video games while seated in the third row.
Additionally, the Datsun GO & GO+ accessorised versions sport enhanced new dual-tone interiors and a new blue exterior colour available for both GO & GO+. These options can be expected by mid-April. Also on display was a Datsun GO Rally car that was equipped with a roll cage, body reinforcements, front and rear Ohlins, an enhanced HR12DE motor, 6POT endless brake callipers in the front and large discs in the rear, large tyres and Recaro seats.
