While Datsun has already started producing the GO at the Renault-Nissan manufacturing facility in Chennai, the brand will soon put the car in the showrooms now that it has announced the launch date. The GO, in fact, is all set to be launched in a week’s time i.e. March 19, 2014.
The GO hatchback is one of the 10 all-new products that Datsun plans to introduce by 2016. Designed and developed to appeal to a wide variety of small car buyers, the GO features a fairly spacious cabin, a powerful yet efficient engine and expectedly, a tempting price tag.
The car is powered by a 1.2-litre engine paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Producing 76bhp of power and 104Nm of torque, this four-cylinder unit is similar to the one found in the Nissan Micra. Here however, Datsun has worked on it for better low-end response and drivability. Inside, the highlighting feature of the car comes in the form of a mobile docking station which enables the occupants to connect their smartphones with the system.
With prices expected to start from Rs 3.1 lakh, going up till Rs 3.8 lakh, the Datsun GO will be seen competing with the Hyundai Eon and the Chevrolet Spark.
