Nissan subsidiary, Datsun yesterday launched the GO hatchback globally, as part of the brand’s resurrection. The car will be officially launched next year with a price tag of under Rs 4 lakh at the Indian Auto Expo.
Named after the company's first model, the DAT Go, the small car will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, Hyundai Eon, Tata Nano and the Chevrolet Beat and its recently launched sibling, the Nissan Micra Active. The car will be locally manufactured in Oragadam, Chennai and will also be sold in countries like Indonesia, Russia and South Africa by 2014. Datsun claims that the new model will be individually developed for different markets while sticking to the same design concept.
Datsun Go is a five-door hatchback and is powered by 1.2-litre petrol mill from the Micra that produces 76PS and 104Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five speed manual gearbox.
We are not surprised with the announcement by Datsun, as this model will slot below the Micra Active that has a tag price of Rs 3.5 lakh. While the actual pricing will be available only close to launch date, check out the below video for more details of exterior and interiors.
