With the introduction of the Datsun GO, the sales numbers for Nissan have quadrupled in India. Currently, the manufacturer has no plans of selling this tailor-made car for India overseas, but if there is a demand, the carmaker will export it to other countries.
Over 5,000 units of the Datsun GO have reached customers in India ever since it was launched in March this year. Out of the 5,301 cars sold by Nissan in April 2014, 2,691 units accounted for the Datsun GO hatchback. Though, the compact SUV Terrano is enjoying a good demand and the Micra is selling in decent numbers, it is the Datsun GO that has managed to generate more than half of the total sales volumes for Nissan which showed a 328 per cent growth.
Nissan will launch the revised Sunny and Evalia facelift this year. Datsun will launch the Datsun GO Plus, an MPV that will go up against the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the upcoming Honda Mobilio in the Indian market. The company has extensive plans to drive up their sales figures. With the introduction of new cars, the carmaker also will inaugurate new dealerships in India, increasing the number from a current 130 to 200 by the end of this fiscal.
