- The updated Go hatchback gets a slight tweak in styling apart from a CVT automatic transmission.
- The hatchback follows the Cross which was unveiled in January and which is also India bound.
- The updated Japanese hatch will go on sale in the Indonesian market before making its way to India.
The new and updated Datsun Go hatchback has been spotted undisguised in Indonesia. The Go gets a subtle styling update but the most important news is that the Japanese hatchback will now get a new CVT automatic transmission.
The undisguised car spotted in Indonesia gets the same design update as seen on the Cross unveiled earlier this year. So there are tweaked headlamps with a wider grille, new alloy wheels and integrated indicators on the ORVM. The fog lamps are now vertical LED bars while the hatchback was spotted wearing a special body kit specific to the Indonesian market. The body kit added an aggressive extension to the bumpers, side skirts and a rear spoiler.
There is a single image of the cabin available at the moment which shows a new tachometer alongside the regular speedometer. We expect a slight refreshment to the entire cabin as well. However, according to reports, the touchscreen infotainment system from the Cross will not be offered in the hatch. Under the hood, things will remain unchanged. So the 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol motor will continue making 68bhp of power and 104Nm of torque.
Following the Indonesian debut next month, Datsun will surely introduce the updated Go hatchback in India. We expect a festive season launch for the Go but the CVT automatic’s plans for India remain uncertain. Especially since the CVT will push the price point of the hatchback which is not viable for the Japanese carmaker at the moment.
