Datsun has got 10,000 orders for the Redigo hatchback since began bookings for the same on May 1. A large portion of the bookings have come from metropolitan areas and Tier 2 cities. This reflects redi-GO’s ‘urban-cross’ spirit—a unique fusion of compact crossover and hatchback.
Commenting on the milestone, Arun Malhotra, managing director, Nissan Motor India, said, “The Datsun Redigo is bringing a lot of new energy and freshness to the entry-level segment. Its eye-catching design and best-in-class features are getting noticed as more and more customers choose to go with Redigo. We have started deliveries of redi-GOs this month to customers across the country and are delighted by the way Datsun redi-GO is being embraced by the younger generation in the country”, he added.
Datsun had showcased the vehicle at the 2014 Auto Expo in concept form and then as a production version earlier this year. This is their third vehicle in the Indian market and is the smallest of the lot. It is based on the same CMF-A platform as the Renault Kwid and is offered with the same 800cc petrol motor producing 54bhp and 72Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a five-speed manual.
