Dacia, the Romanian subsidiary of Renault and the creators of the Logan and the Duster, have managed to get themselves into the 2013 Goodwood FoS by creating a special edition of the Duster compact SUV called the Black Edition. Much like the other special edition of the car, it gets cosmetic changes all over and is based on the UK spec Ambiance dCi 110 4x2, positioned similar to the 110PS RxL diesel variant in India.
The outside gets brushed black vinyl wrap matte finish over what appears to be a shade of light black. It sits on special 18-inch wheels that have been painted in the same shade of black as the body. Inside, the car apart from the standard features of this variant gets steel grey interiors, Kenwood music system with a touch screen and a Garmin GPS.
The Black Edition Duster is powered by the 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine that produces 110PS and 248Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox.
The company has not specified if the Black Edition will get a limited production run. It has been priced at 17, 575 GBP (Rs 15. 95 lakh) which is a full 5.4 lakhs more than the standard Ambiance dCi 110 4x2 which is priced at 11, 595 GBP (Rs 10.52 lakh).
It is likely that the all the extra trappings are fitted at the dealer level since all RHD Dacia/ Renault Dusters are manufactured at the Romanian-French automaker plant near Chennai. It is unlikely that we will get this special edition mostly due to the cost and the fact that the colour black is not popular among Indian buyers.
