The Chevrolet Corvette Museum, in Bowling Green Kentucky, will retain a portion of the sinkhole that swallowed up eight extremely rare ‘Vettes in February 2014 as it has brought them a 59 per cent spike in visitors since the collapse.
The sinkhole, originally 70 feet deep, was formed in February of this year after the floor under that section collapsed and swallowed up eight Corvettes from various decades. The section that will be retained is 30-feet deep, 25-feet long and 45-feet wide. It will also have a dirt embankment in the space below for the purpose of displaying one-two cars which we suspect will be the ones that were damaged the most.
Work around the exhibit will begin once the museum celebrates its 20th anniversary which is scheduled to take place in September.
