The Coffee Day Rally of Chikmagalur came to an end yesterday, Privateers and customer teams driving Polo rally cars made a clean sweep at the Coffee Day Rally 2013. Arjun Rao Arur finished on top of the 1600 category and won the event overall. Sirish Chandran and Hrishikesh Thackersey also made it to the podium following Arjun Arur. Hrishikesh Thackersey was navigated by none other than our associate-editor Ninad Mirajgaonkar.
It is a proud moment for VW Motorsports India as the Coffee Day Rally was dominated by their cars. Team Slideways the customer team of VW Motorsports had a decent run, driving for them Sirish Chandran finished second in 1600 category and third overall. Rohan Pawar won the Junior INRC category also driving for Team Slideways.
Karamjit Singh driving a Polo R2 was leading the rally overall until the car decided to give away owing to some technical issues. The Polo R2 broke down in the middle of the route forcing organisers to cancel SS10. The results computed until SS9 was declared as final results.
Mr.Prithviraj Siddappa, Head of Volkswagen Motorsport India congratulated the victorious and hailed the performance of the Polo rally cars. He also expressed delight with their customer teams doing well and praised privateers perfomance. Mr.Siddappa signed off with a statement 'we hope to go big next year', this indicates VW Motorsports India will be a force to reckon with in the forthcoming INRC season.
