Groupe PSA will officially introduce the Citroen brand in India tomorrow. In India, the company has collaborated with the CK Birla group and will be setting up a plant outside Chennai that will produce cars as well as powertrain setups. The collaboration will include sales, service as well as procurement operation for the PSA group as a whole. Interestingly, the company will also showcase the C5 Aircross SUV sometime before the end of 2021.
The Citroen C5 Aircross will be based on the Groupe PSA EMP2 platform that also underpins the DS7 SUV. At the time of launch, the C5 Aircross will be available in petrol and diesel engine options. Internationally, the SUV is available with a wide range of petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol variant is powered by a 1.2-litre engine that generates 128bhp and the diesel version comes with a 1.5-litre diesel that generates 128bhp of power. There is also a larger 2.0-litre diesel on offer that produces 178bhp of power. The SUV is available in six-speed manual and eight-speed automatic options.
Citroen will reveal its plans for the Indian market tomorrow. Post-launch, the five-seat SUV will compete against the likes of the Honda CR-V and Isuzu MU-X. More details about the Citroen brand will be known tomorrow.
