Citroen in China has let out an official teaser of the new Citroen C6. Sources added that the car maker also plans to make a formal announcement on the C6 at the Geneva Motor Show even though the car will only debut at the Beijing Auto Show later in April.
Citroen’s new C6 will be based on the PSA EMP2 platform and the car is clearly longer and wider than the current C5. Power to the wheels is speculated to come from either a 1.8-litre or a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, and a hybrid version may also be on the cards at a later point. Prices of the new C6 may range from 250000 to 320000 yuan (Rs 26.18 lakh to 33.51 lakh) and to put things in perspective, the made in China Citroen C5 ranges from 180000 yuan to 240000 yuan (Rs 18.85 lakh to Rs 25.13 lakh).
When launched, Citroen’s C6 will battle it out with cars like the Ford Taurus and the Toyota Crown in the Chinese market. A quick peep at the relative prices of the C6 establish that it is positioned just below the 3 Series, A4, and the C-Class, however, these cars are usually bigger and more luxurious. Citroen’s C6 is slated to be made in China by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture.
