Citroen C5 Aircross: Now in pictures

The Citroen C5 Aircross was officially unveiled today at an event in Chennai. The premium SUV will be launched in India before the end of 2020. Once launched, the C5 Aircross will rival the Jeep Compass, MG Hector and the Tata Harrier. Let’s take a deep dive into the design of the C5 Aircross.

The C5 Aircross features the signature Citroen grille that is flanked by split LED DRLs, while the LED headlamps and a larger grille are placed below. The front bumper gets black body cladding with contrast orange highlights. The fog lamps are placed on the lower side of the bumper.

The profile features flared wheel arches and 16-inch two-tone alloy wheels, wrapped on Michelin rubber. The black body cladding gets a slight kink on the doors with the characteristic orange design elements on the front doors.

The blacked out C-pillar gives a floating roof effect, while the roof rails get a two-tone black and orange finish. The SUV gets a panoramic sunroof and an integrated rear spoiler.

The rear profile isn’t as dramatic as the front. The Citroen C5 Aircross features oval taillights with quad-LED design elements. The dual-tone rear bumper features air vents on the quarter panels, while the twin exhausts are housed on the lower part of the bumper.

The Citroen C5 Aircross features premium interiors and a well laid out cabin. It gets a chunky flat-bottom steering wheel and an all-digital instrument console. The dashboard receives soft-touch materials and leather finish.

The SUV comes with a large 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, with the HVAC vents on either side. The ACC controls are placed below the display, while the centre console houses the gear knob, electronic parking brake and the various connectivity slots.

Citroen has announced that the C5 Aircross will be offered with premium leather upholstery at launch. The SUV features comfy front seats with lumbar support and three individual seats at the back.

The global-spec C5 Aircross comes with a massive boot space capacity 580 litres, and we don’t expect the India-spec model to be any different. The rear seats can slide forward to boost the capacity to 720 litres. Furthermore, all three rear seats can be folded individually into a flatbed, taking the overall luggage capacity to 1,630-litres. It also gets a remote tailgate closing button.

While Citroen hasn’t revealed the engine details of the C5 Aircross, the Indian model is likely to get a 128bhp 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 178bhp 2.0-litre diesel motor. Both the powertrains are expected to be available with 6-speed manual and 8-speed automatic options.
