Hot on the heels of the recently launched Basalt and the C3 Aircross, Citroen has updated the C3 hatchback with a much-needed two-pedal option. The engine and gearbox in question is Citroen’s 1.2-litre turbo producing 109bhp/205Nm in six-speed AT guise and 109bhp/190Nm in six-speed MT guise. The Basalt has a difference of Rs 1.4 lakh between MT and AT while in the Aicross it is 1.3 lakh and we expect a difference of around Rs 1.2 lakh for the hatchback. The turbo petrol engine option is only available with the top-spec Shine variant.
At the unveiling of the Basalt, Citroen has also revealed an updated C3 hatchback and the list includes climate control, power mirrors with auto folding and 14-inch alloy wheels. All versions of the car now have six airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounting points, and hill hold assist (AT only).
These upgrades to the C3 hatchback finally put it in the same league as the Maruti Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Renault Triber but also compact sedans like the Honda Amaze, Hyundai Aura and the upcoming next-generation. Maruti Dzire.
