- To be unveiled on 2 August
- Will compete against the upcoming Tata Curvv
Citroen India is entering into the new coupe SUV segment with its upcoming Basalt SUV. The model is all set to make its mark in the Indian market on 2 August. And ahead of its official price announcement, select dealerships have started accepting orders for the Basalt SUV.
Customers who are interested in the upcoming Citroen coupe SUV can register themselves by paying a token amount of Rs. 25,000. This process can be initiated by visiting the nearest Citroen-authorised dealership.
While the automaker is being tight-lipped regarding the feature list of the upcoming Basalt SUV, the latest teaser revealed a lot of information concerning the same. The C3 Aircross-based coupe will come loaded with a coloured digital instrument panel, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, rear armrest, headrests with side support, and automatic climate control. We also expect the model to get a wireless charger, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, Type C charging ports, and cruise control as part of the package.
Mechanically, the Basalt will carry forward the C3 Aircross’ 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine coupled with a six-speed manual and an automatic torque converter unit. This motor is capable of churning out 109bhp and 215Nm of peak torque.
Upon its launch, the Citroen Basalt will face fierce competition in the form of the Tata Curvv. The latter will not only be offered with a petrol engine but will also get an EV iteration.
