- To be based on the C3 Aircross SUV
- Will rival the upcoming Tata Curvv
Citroen India is all set to launch the C3 Aircross-based coupe SUV, the Basalt in the country. The unveiling date is set to 2 August, 2024 followed by the price announcement in the coming weeks.
As seen in the teaser images and multiple spy pictures, the Basalt will carry a typical Citroen face with a signature two-slat grille that forms up to the Citroen logo. Furthermore, the Coupe will flaunt a more aggressive front bumper with a wide radiator grille.
Other design elements will include flip-style door handles, wraparound LED taillamps, squared-off wheel arches, and a raised-up tailgate panel. Moreover, the Basalt will feature a thick cladding all around to add up to its butch stance.
As for the features, the Basalt coupe will likely come loaded with automatic climate control, auto-dimming IRVM, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless smartphone connectivity, and a digital instrument panel.
Mechanically, the French automaker will bundle the Basalt with the same 1.2-litre turbo petrol motor as seen with the C3 Aircross. This engine will come mated to a six-speed manual and an automatic torque converter unit with a power output of 109bhp and 205Nm of torque.
Upon its arrival, the Citroen Basalt will start a fierce rivalry with the upcoming Tata Curvv. Meanwhile, the latter is set to make its debut soon and will be offered in both ICE and EV guise.
