Chrysler has finally begun shipping the 2014 Jeep Cherokee to its dealers across USA. It had been surrounded by many issues so far delaying the official deliveries significantly despite the fact that the SUV had been launched in June.
The SUV had been plagued by many problems delaying the launch of the vehicle. The major concern was with the car’s nine-speed automatic gearbox which had a programming fault. There were also some issues regarding fit and finish of the car. The auto-maker had identified the solution for the error in the ZF-sourced automatic gearbox. But all these rectifications were to be made in the 23000 Cherokees which were already built by then. This delayed the launch but now the auto-maker is all prepped up and gone ahead with the shipment of the cars.
The Cherokee in the US will be powered by a 2.4-litre four-cylinder Multi-Air engine mated to a nine-speed automatic gearbox. The 2014 Cherokee has been priced from 22,995 to 29,995 US Dollars (Rs.14.16-18.47 lakh). Indian car market is expected to receive it next year will be launched soon by end of this year. Fiat will introduce both the Jeep Cherokee and Jeep Wrangler in India.
The 2014 SUV has been spotted testing in India and is likely to be launched towards the end of the year.
