While Kia Motors is preparing to launch the Seltos in India on 22 August, the carmaker's Chinese counterpart is set to introduce the China-spec Kia Seltos in the local market there. The Chinese version will be longer, taller and will be named Kia KX3. It is expected to debut at the 2019 Chengdu Motor Show.
Design of the Kia KX3 is nearly identical to the Seltos, barring the extra plastic cladding and a stop lamp on the rear skid plate. Dimensionally, the KX3 is 30mm longer, 25mm taller and has a 20mm longer wheelbase compared to the Kia Seltos. The longer dimensions mean that it will have better legroom at the rear. Besides the cosmetic changes, the Kia KX3 is also furnished with additional equipment like a panoramic sunroof and adaptive cruise control.
Under the hood, the Kia KX3 will not feature a diesel or a turbo-petrol engine. Instead, it will be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that develops 113bhp and 142Nm, and will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission and an optional CVT. The KX3 also won't get a GT Line trim. More details about the Kia KX3 will be available at the Chengdu Motor Show.
