The Chinese market spec Audi Q5 L was spotted undisguised ahead of its early 2018 debut in the People’s Republic. This is the second generation of the German automaker’s mid-sized SUV and will be manufactured in China through a local venture.
As expected, the interior is that of the standard 2018 Q5 with the same layout and features, but with an additional 100mm of space at the rear and this is very visible when you compare it to the standard Q5. Externally, apart from the visible increase in length you also get some China specific badging, including the Q5 L badge at the rear.
The car that has been spotted in the pictures is a 40 TFSI variant which means that it makes use of a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol motor that produces 273bhp/370Nm of torque. The gearbox that has been mated to the engine is a seven-speed AT and gets the additional quattro AWD system.
We, in India, will get the standard length second generation Q5 in early 2018 both with petrol and diesel engines. The car has already been spied testing in India and was recently even spotted undisguised at a dealer stock yard.
