A locally made version of the Mercedes-Benz GLA crossover has been spotted undisguised in China for the first time. The car will be manufactured under the Beijing-Benz JV and in the same plant where the LWB versions of the C-Class, E-Class and SWB GLK are manufactured.
The China-spec GLA is expected to be powered by the 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine that produces 122bhp and 200Nm of torque. There will also be a 2.0-litre turbo petrol that has an output of 211bhp and 350Nm of torque with both engines being mated to a seven-speed DCT.
The China spec GLA is expected to get the same rear seat entertainment package that we saw in the A-Class and B-Class Edition 1 due to consumers having similar preferences.
We in India will get the GLA later this year in both petrol and diesel guises.Mercedes-Benz India has already begun booking for the crossover and it has been spotted testing on multiple occasions outside Pune.
